Keno originated in China, it has been in the United States for one hundred years. The legend historically is that people played it to win money for the creation of Great Wall. The game is three thousand years old and it is a lot like a lottery. The game came to America with Chinese immigrants in the 19th century. The game once started with 120 Chinese characters but by the time it got to America was reduced to 80 characters. The game was illegal at first but in thrived in the Chinese culture. It became known as the Chinese lottery in large cities. English people had difficulty distinguishing the names of the characters. By the 20th century the characters became numbers. The game has gone through some legal rig amoral but has a large following now. Lotteries did not become legal until 1931 in Nevada. Originally, the Chinese characters in the game told a story and were not random. It has become a big casino and video game which player’s bet numbers at random. Game Play In the original game, a big circular bubble contained 80 numbered balls. The blower pushes the balls and mixes them up. A Caller presses a lever opening and releasing balls into a tube known as the “rabbit ears”. The Caller with the help of a Verifier notes the 20 balls that came up. You bet on which numbers would be called. Today, you get a casino keno ticket with the numbers on them. You x-out up to 10 or15 numbers. Fifteen is the most common. This is a “straight ticket” The “spot” is your collection of numbers. A one number is a one spot, two numbers a two spot and so on. On the computerized version you can push quick-pick and the computer will randomly choose them for you. After you have your numbers, you give them to the keno “host” who gives you a receipt. Your ticket wins if it has enough matches called” catches”. Than the game starts all over again. More numbers will be drawn in another five minutes or so. People do not play Keno to win a lot of money; they play it because it is fun. Winning at Keno is infrequent, There is not much strategy used to win the game. If someone wants to try to make money they can compare pay tables from casino to casino or you can play it at online casinos. Keno is easy and fun and does not cost a lot of money. You decide how much you want to wager and how many of numbers you want to play. You can win by matching some or all (very rare) the numbers.
