There is a bit of concern today about NFL gambling lines making their way into the mainstream. Though the NFL has denied the importance of football gambling for many years, there is little doubt that gambling plays a major role in their success. Why do they think that people are buying the NFL package on DirecTV? It isn’t because they enjoy watching the Washington Redskins that much. It is because they want to know who is winning the game that they laid $500 on. They want to know when Chris Cooley scores a touchdown and their hard earned cash doubles. Still, the NFL maintains that it doesn’t want anything to do with NFL gambling lines. Some might think it is stupid, but I say it is a smart move by the NFL.
By distancing themselves from NFL football betting lines, the league has establishes a great deal of credibility on the issue. They have never wavered from their stance that they don’t like NFL gambling lines being attached to their games. Don’t be fooled into thinking that they’d like for sports gambling to go away, though. They know who butters their bread and they understand that without the fine folks in Las Vegas, their league would be a dead one.
NFL gambling lines are here to stay. When the biggest daily newspaper in the United States continues to run NFL lines alongside the game capsules, you can be sure that it has reached the mainstream. No matter if the NFL likes it or not, ESPN and other media outlets will continue to give the people what they want. Today, people want more NFL gambling lines. In addition to that, they want more analysis of these NFL gambling lines in order to learn what they should do when the weekend comes along.
